I have a story and I’ve no reason to disbelieve it. 3 of my Mums sisters emigrated to USA, 2 had married GI’s , the 3rd went to stay with one of them, became a nanny then married an Italian American. They were living in Boston. Fairly newly married the Older sister was living in tenements in Boston. One day a ‘ workman’ knocked on the apartment door, said he was working on some cabling in the building and asked my Aunt for a glass of water. It was hot and humid and my Aunt felt sorry for him, told him to wait there and went to fetch him a glass of cold water, coming back to the front door she found he had stepped into the hallway, just then my other Aunt who was staying with her came out of her bedroom and into the hall, the guy jumped, grabbed the water, drank it and scarpered PDQ.
A few months later they were watching TV when my aunt let out a scream and was shaking, she’d recognised the workman who’d asked for water on the TV News, he was Albert De Salvo !! Far as I know she informed the police and gave a statement but nothing more came of it I don’t think. Well, who knows if anything would have happened had my other Aunt not been there, maybe nothing would have, bit scary tho, realising you gave a glass of cold water to The Boston Strangler !!

The lakes is more than pretty tarns and quaint towns.
Crossed the Wrynose pass, and then the Hardknott Pass, while it was raining.
Two of the most stressful roads in England. Nerve-wracking at times.
some people never learn to just shut up. If you’ve no idea what you’re talking about, say nothing or you just look even more stupid.
I’ve done Hardknott pass, weather just turned, as it can in The Lakes, one minute a bit cloudy but dry and calm, within 20 minutes a howling gale. Ive driven all over UK but I tell ya I was glad to get that one behind me, really felt uneasy

Jamie, we’ve known each other years, good times and bad. I will be so disappointed if you stop using the boards because of a caricature, who’s only aim seems to be to see his name plastered everywhere, maybe to him that’s some kind of validation…. maybe he needs that attention, I don’t know, but don’t you dare stop using the boards because of it. No one gives the slightest significance to anything it has to say, however you are honest, funny and have a wonderful mind. Don’t you dare stop posting grrrr xxxxx

Lol Linda… I hear ya !!! I love cleaning and having a good sort out. Can’t abide being in an untidy space, I don’t hoard anything, hate clutter, but when you find something you’d forgotten you had that’s a bonus !! I’m quite ruthless, there’s no ‘ it may come in handy’, if I haven’t used it in 6 months it goes, if its a mistake I’ll get another one lol. I couldn’t relax and read a book if I knew there were for example , dishes in the kitchen or the bathroom was untidy just like I couldn’t sleep in an unmade bed. Maybe I’m a bit OCD, but that’s just me. When all around me is calm, clean and tidy, then I can relax lol.
