The Hitler references are there to demonstrate the you can start something with a pereceived good intention but where does the line end? At what point, (and who), decides who should and shouldnt live/survive/exist?
Its the one argument (for me) which keeps euthanasia at all from becomming legal- the disability in this example is at the far end of extreme but the parameters you put (in pain, has fits, deaf, blind, dumb etc) can easily apply to many others
Its a slippery slope if we start to put down anyone, of any age, because we believe they don’t have a quality of life which we can compare to

well if anyone of you actually know a rapid respons para then correct me. like i said my bro in law is one…..an i cant imagine him lyin. he works alone ..is 1st on scene…an has or will never sit in his car while back up arrives. maybe hes breakin the rules who knows.
Pat- I can’t believe you’re bro in law would walk into the middle of a fight (like John Wayne) to treat a patient- his green uniform and the words “paramedic” on his back arent some sort of shield which protects him- drunks are drunks n don’t care who they kick the sh/it out of
27 April, 2008 at 9:47 pm #331769I must really be having a feckin blind Sunday cos I still cannot see an argument for euthanasia and still view the deliberate killing of a disabled child today no different to Germany in the 1930’s.
Re read the original article again (as posted by Bat)- read the nightmare the mother went through for years and then read these two paragraphs at the end
“Those precious few moments when we think he is free from pain, and maybe ‘enjoying’ the feel of the wind on his cheeks mean everything to us.
What people forget when they look at Noah and say how sorry they are, is that we’re not. We’ve got a son we love and however different his life is – it is his life and a valid one“
Now again tell me what point is being raised here by those suggesting this child should be put down like a dog?
27 April, 2008 at 8:35 am #331762Yep, you’re all right- I must have got it so wrong
This practise, the “euthasnia” of severely disabled infants (and adults) was the ethos used by Adolf Hitler to support his creation of the Aryan race
I wouldnt suggest anyone on here would prescribe following a Nazi doctrine but judging by the response here, it obviously has its supporters
So who draws the line then and what illness…cerebral palsy perhaps? ex meningoccal septacaemia children (blind deaf and prones to fits) etc etc- quality of life is nil (according to those on here) so lets just send em of to sleep cos it suages our consciences and makes us feel better cos its the “right thing to do”-
– perhaps we could sterilise known carriers (ie downs adults etc) to ensure “they” don’t reproduce
And Kevin…if you read YOUR post again…you even have the audacity to ask whether murdering a child…sorry, putting it out of its misery (in your eyes) is really murder? (3rd line in case you’d forgotten)
Its a “non existence” in your eyes but NOT to the parents and not to the child
(Sorry Slayer, but you mentioned both “Adolf Hitler” AND “Nazis” in the same post … you lose the debate !! …….. Ed)
26 April, 2008 at 10:02 pm #331875Sorry Pats and Minim but you’re simply wrong on this one
No Fast response staff will go into a situation which is unsafe or potentially unsafe- it is their safety which takes primacy
26 April, 2008 at 10:00 pm #331755Ignorance, noun
“the want of knowledge in general, or in relation to a particular subject;”
Got any severely disabled kids Kevin? Know what its like to walk a mile in their shoes?
As I said, ignorance beyond contempt
To suggest murdering a child because you think it would be “better off”- yep- my post is exactly right and summed you up to a tee
25 April, 2008 at 8:41 pm #331854Fade to Black
The “Black” album may have broke them mega in the US but they were fanantically popular here from the Ride the Lightening album- “One” was voted number one metal song ever in 1990 -or ’91! (Radio 1 Friday rock show)
Storming live band but only 2 feckin dates this year (at Reading n Leeds)- only one date last year at Wembley (yep, I was there but still only one date)…lets hope there’s more to come
Tbh, by now they are a bit like caberet- a live set is almost entirely pre ’94 material with the odd one thrown in from post ’94 for good measure- I doubt they have much relevance to todays “scene” in terms of their music today but have massive relevance in terms of their influence on the bands of today whose members grew up listening to Puppets, Justice, n Lightening
25 April, 2008 at 8:35 pm #331868It is a very sad society we live in- every weekend ambulance staff are assaulted and abused mainly through either drink related or mental health related issues
Number one priority in ALL 999 calls is staff safety first then patient safety- it is drummed in during training- it is particularly difficult for rapid response drivers cos they havent got any backup but their own safety comes first
Its the world we live in and until we (ie all of us) stand up and say enough….its the way its going to be

what is the point of noahs existence
its clearly to late to do anything now
would it be infanticide to end this virtual non existence
or just the right thing to doIgnorance beyond contempt
Go and ask his parents what the “point of his existence” is? You are such a feckwit
25 April, 2008 at 7:07 pm #331712Like I said before Wasp- you’d be suprised how much we agree on :D
Maybe living where we each do does colour how we see things- maybe if I lived in a community which was high in another culture or creed, maybe I would see it differently (as opposed to knowing lots of people from different cultures) n maybe I wouldnt…who knows?
