So being called a homophobe doesnt bother me, if I dislike a gay its not BECAUSE they are gay, its because I find them a tedious and obnoxious person full stop, sometimes their sexuality adds to the reasons for that and in other cases it doesnt

But ostensively I think its every persons right to like or dislike anyone for whatever reasons they have, thats true liberalism and freedom of choice

Err, isnt that the point Uber- disliking someone who is gay does not make you a homophobe- disliking someone BECAUSE they are gay does.

Emma follows the sheep mentality which disallows individual thought- the mob culture of disliking someone purely because they are not the same as they are. FRom a childhood perspective, this is why children who are different (ginger hair, walk with a limp, talk with a stutter etc etc) are bullied- into adulthood there traits are continued.

I dislike lots of people, but its because of who they are NOT what they are

However you feel though with regards to prisoners rights, any given society is best judged by its treatment of its worst members. As Dostoyevsky said “The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons”.

I take it that by “entering prisons”, you can see the low life scum that infest them and truly see what society we live in that breeds the pestilence that rape and murder 2 year old girls. Unfortuante it is that you can see them in a prison as hanging from a rope would be a much better place for them

{quote=”genie_in_a_butthole”] I never said i “enter(ing) prisons”, as should be very clear from both the quotation marks before and after that sentence and the fact i say, “As Dostoyevsky said” before the quote.
If you are saying that by simply being in prison that makes a person “low life scum”, lets take a brief look at some people who have spent time in prison around the world over the years.

    Nelson Mandela,
    Alexander Solzhenitsyn,
    Fyodor Dostoyevsky,
    Jean Genet,
    Oscar Wilde,
    George Jackson,
    Brendan Behan,
Francois Marie Arouet (Voltaire) etc etc etc

I could continue but i will save you time having to google the names, these few names alone hardly constitute “low life scum”.

You have taken a direct Dostoyesky quote to support your argument which preceeds the quote ergo you support and adhere to the inference in the quote- I didnt say “you said”- I referred directly to your supporting quote. Listing names of renowned people through the ages who have been incarcerated to support the idea that prison does not have “low life scum” is as ludicrous as me listing some of the worst perpetrators of criminal activity to support that it does.

Simple statement- entering a prison would allow you to see low life scum face to face- it would allow you to see a helluva lot more but it doesnt detract from the fact that leeches on the face of humanity exist there.

Now lets accept the reality that laws change, what is accepted today was once imprisonable. People sit in prison for a multitude of offences ranging from rape and murder to non-payment of fines and tax evasion. These inmates, although seperated by the length of sentence and nature of the crime are all living in the same prison system under the same rules. Should an 80 year old man who refused to pay his poll tax have all his dignity removed and be treated as “low life scum”? I suggest not.

Where have i said ALL prisoners should be treated the same- i merely referred to the fact that certain crimes would be better served by the guilty hanging from a gibbet (perhaops having first had molten metal poured down their throat, though that may be a tad too extreme :D )

    @genie_in_a_butthole wrote:

By using the of crime of “rape and murder 2 year old girls” (excuse the grammar, but this was quoted directly from you), you have used the vilest of crimes in an attempt to justify your point that ALL prisoners should be immediately condemned as “low life scum”, this shows a complete ignorance of the reality of the situation and the British legal system. The thread was “prisoners human rights”, encompassing both the severe crimes and petty crimes that people currently sit inside a cell for. Should a person who rapes and murders a 2 year old girl be executed or as you put it “hang from a rope” is a different question and not remotely relevent to this thread and nor is the strictness and leniency of any given sentence for any given crime. All that is relevent is the rights of those that are imprisoned.

It is pertinently relevant- why shoudl human rights be extended to those wish to impose their foulest abuses of others basic human right to live. And please please do not state anything about “stooping to their level” etc. Certain crimes (child murder and rape for a starter) go beyond evil and part of the punishment should be a removal of all but the basic human right of food and water

To get back to the question originally imposed we must also apply common sense, if a person is treated harshly and demeaned for a prolonged period by a system and is then released back into a society that in their mind caused this treatment, resentment and bitterness are created thus creating the likelihood of a more serious crime being commited upon release and a circle of release – conviction – prison is perpetuated doing nothing for the inmate or society unless that individual breaks it (like John McVicar, Stanley Tookie Williams etc). Now i am not for one moment suggesting that inmates should be afforded a life of luxury whilst incarcerated, but i am saying basic human rights should apply and an inmate should be afforded the protection from other inmates and officers that society is afforded by the very nature of the prison system.[/quote]

Football is becoming less accessible to the average family with the cost of being a supporter soaring year on year. Annually we see new shirts released for clubs and either a home or away strip for England. On top of that huge expense, tickets for both club and international matches are reaching an all time high with a home season ticket for Arsenal reaching £1850.

So then, are we the loyal England football supporters really the ones footing the bill for players huge weekly salaries, WAG shopping trips and above all Sven’s £13,000 a day wage until may 2007?

The FA’s turnover for 2004 was £206,145,000. Surely some of this money could be passed back to the fans instead of lining the pockets of the FA officials and funding the players and Sven’s luxury lifestyles. (Sven will actually have ‘earnt’ about £100 by the time you finish this.) What do you think? Are the FA ripping us off?

I take it your view of “football” does not extend outside the Premiership then as League 2 football certainly isnt less acessible- indeed it is often more so with many initiatives (kids for a quid etc) to persuade families to attend.

I now take my 10 year old to most home games, have a pie each n still have change from £30. I’d rather spend the money n see my son happy than p/ishing it up the wall on a Friday night bender.

What has Sven’s lifestyle, money etc got to do with it- many many sportsmen and women are paid extortionate amounts through media sponsorship, ticket sales, merchanidising, TV revenue etc. I don’t think anyone is worth £100,000 per week but if thats what the going rate is then good luck to them.

I wouldnt disagree the Premiership is moving away from grass roots support but there much much more to football than the Premiership

So why do we allow them to do it here ….?

WE, dont, its our political employee leaders that do, because its easy, we let them get away with it.

We English/brits need to start politically motivating ourselves. We HAVE TO get off our skinny backsides and fight for the right to voice our concerns. We CANNOT assume everything will be alright.

DO something, educate people, join/start a patriotic political organisation. BNP / England Independence Party / England First Party, these parties are trying to defend who and what we are.

Joining a party is good, but its not good enough. ASK them for some literal information, pass it around to people you know, leave copies in pubs, barber shops, libaries, get people talking.

    YOU decide YOUR future.

ugo, PB is a patriot, he just has to be neutral on here.

    Help….. who am I motivating

Black British Christian (like the ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY!)
White Muslims (oh, that would be no good)
British Indians (they would be a good starter for ten with their natural dislike of Islam)
How about the thousands of Polish plumbers- catholic if not orthodox

You continue to fail to see that relevant, sensible points are lost when badged with a BNP solution which wants to see a white Britain- don’t you see if nationalist parties (like the BNP etc) were supportive and supported any English/Briton IRRESPECTIVE of colour, creed and race THEN you would see a real national movement- until then you just see white folk bleating about wanting a white only nation and sending back all the “foreigns”-

However just imagine a party that put ALL Britains first and equal- now that would be something (and please dont say the BNP is that party)

I’d rather die free than live under the BNP

Perhaps Ugo would prefer the factual historical basis for St George

“There is almost nothing known of the early years of Saint George’s life. He was born sometime in the year 263AD, in the city of Lydia near Jerusalem. His parents were from Cappadonia, a city in present day Turkey. Is is said that his father was an Arab Sheit.

Sometime in his seventeenth year, he enlisted as a calvary soldier in the army of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. He became a high ranking officer, rising through the ranks because he was a proficient soldier, an able horseman and had a commanding and cheerful attitude.

When the Emperor Diocletian began his campaign of persecuting Christians, George, who was a devout Christian, requested an audience with the Emperor and was granted one. George at this conference pleaded with the Emperor to refrain from this distasteful practice.

Diocletian was so annoyed and incensed, that he commanded George to recant his religion. When he refused, George was arrested, tortured, and finally put to death on April 23, 303AD. This day is now known as Saint George’s Day”

So Ugo, St George was an Arab Roman solider….interesting!
