I have to say you provide me with so much entertainment Drivel. I havent posted on here for 2 weeks and hardly at all in the last 2 months so I would hardly class myself as having most to say.
As I’ve said so many times before, “When in Rome” only applies to “foreigners” here of course and doesnt apply to Brits abroad then- “Do as I say, not as I do” would be more appropriate
A Muslim day at Alton Towers is about as far away from an Islamic takeover as it is possible to get except for those who wish to add their warped perception on it.
And for the record we are a Church of England nation predominantly and I don’t see you waving banners decrying catholicism (I bet Catholic Churches outnumber Mosques 5 to 1) when the Catholic church criticises or is offended by the things we do. Narrow minded, blind and ignorant.

I am no way A BNP member or supporter – but I do feel the majority of people in this country feel the same way as I do about other religions “taking” over
I’m not particularly religious although I am Christened and confimed
We are not talking about the behaviour of Brits on holiday abroad – we are talking about people coming to live in this country and not giving 2 hoots to our customs or laws

Y’see Drivel, if you want to talk about religions taking over then fine but it is a generic rather than specific issue- we have many different religions here (the Lonely Planet lists 7 different ones I think) and each have a different or disparate set of values and beliefs- whether it be Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism etc.
And each will occasionally object to parts of our way of life (the Catholic church was recently heavily preaching against any form of abortion and very strongly against a womans right to chose her own form of birth control- didnt hear anyone condeming the Catholic church for doing that but if it had been Islam the reaction would have “trying to change our culture, etc etc ) or how we live our life. But why cant they, they’re just as British as you and me…they have a right to an opinion and it is as valuable as mine or yours.
What I object to is the demonisation of one religion with the guilty by implication inferences. Islam has done nothing differently than other religions in this country yet because of the global radicalisation of Islam by extremists, it is tainted with a brush of “all terrorists, all want to take over the UK etc etc”. This simply isnt true and hence my views on this thread reflect this.
The vast vast majority of Muslims are no different than the vast vast majority of all other Britons- peaceful, law abiding and proud to be both British and Muslim. Just as there were (and continue to be) extreme Catholic and Protestants both in N Ireland and Scotland, there will be extremist Muslims who are British too- it is a fact ot life but not a fact of vilification of a whole religion.
As for emigration, Ive been around the world, but there’s no place like home n this is it…for all its faults…

You make a very good and simple point Mad.
The “when in Rome” brigade fail to recognise that when we Brits are abroad, we have absolutely no respect for the country we are in, the local customs or the people. Yet expect “foreigners” to respect this country when they’re here. Hypocrisy of the highest order.
Check the law on shop/supermarket car parks as there summat about it not being subject to the normal legal process as it is considered private property and not public highway

Think you’ve just proved my point. If that is how English culture is percieved, then why not?
Middle-Eastern culture is percieved as a load of towel-wearing terrorists, rolling in oil and slagging off everyone who isn’t Muslim. Killing their relatives because they want to marry someone autside their social status. So why the heck have we got to give them the time of day, when they are in our country? Would they give a sh!t about my beliefs if I was in “their” country?
Get real man, We are different. Let the world think what it will about the English, let it think what it will about every Nationality. Let the world do it knowing where these nationalities are are, geographically speaking.

My point, clearly lost, was if you wish to stereotype any section of society, any country, any race, any creed, you can do so….but it is through ignorance you do so not from any knowledge or understanding of that said race, creed etc.
If Alton Towers has a Muslim day, a Gay day, an OAP day, a DCFC only day, a “wear a pink carnation day”…it doesnt bloody matter….We all belong to the same wonderful country (for all its faults, of which it has many) and to single out a particular day because it is a Muslim day, whilst ignoring every other time Alton Towers is hired out is just barmy.
