Even if you didn’t have a criminal record, you shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun!!!

What a great thread this turned out to be, despite all the attempts by ‘Wang’.
I’ve been here a long time, and people on jc have had a reputation for showing a nasty side. Attacking someone was an accepted way of getting noticed, while really embarrassing, better yet humiliating them, was seen as star quality. The anonymity of the web was key…[Read more]

misterq, read the news! cars are now used to mow down large numbers of harmless and defenceless people. As these people aren’t able to defend themselves, they have to wait like sitting duck to be picked off until someone with a gun arrives to shoot the killer.
I totally agree with your feelings. In a world without guns, and without people…[Read more]

Distasteful thread about a great person from a not-so-great person.

Linda,
it may surprise you
but I’ve heard a lot worse from people on this site.
One woman I used to like years ago called them pond life.
having said that, I’ve come across some very decent people here,
but still
take care.

Great value, linda, shame about the movies lol
I’m incredibly picky about films – usually choose ones whihc most people run away from
Buying unofficially on ebay doesn’t release you from customs duties – but you can often escape them because customs don’t always do their duty.

You’re very generous, Linda.
Thanks for looking.
I don’t feel it’s time for me to buy a 4k player yet. When my television conks out is probably the time. I’ll choose carefully when the time comes.
Hitchcock’s best movies for me were The 39 Steps (1939 version with Robert Donat) and Vertigo (a brilliant film).

Linda,
Criterion are about the best blurays you can get, in quality of transfer and in quality of the actual film – imho. Here in the UK, the nearest you get is BFI (British Film Institute).
it’s not easy to get hold of Criterion in this country, though Criterion have started to produce (some of) them here.. I can get them from Amazon US, but…[Read more]

I believe that everyone has a conscience…
but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t lie dormant.
I have no idea of the informer’s conscience. An appeal, I hope, was made to it.
I do think that if his conscience wasn’t moved, then money should have been paid. It was worth it to save the girls. We live in a world which isn’t straight-forward, and hard…[Read more]

I don’t know enough about the details.
But the morality of using someone who has been convicted and punished for his crimes is very disturbing, but if it brings results, if it saves children, then let it be so, as long as safeguards are in place to stop the ex-crim from repeating his crimes. I believe that there were such safeguards, but they…[Read more]
