I blame rude boy for q’s return.
He’s obviously scanning this place now and again, and all he has to do is notice the title of this thread and he’s back.
I noticed that he’s back with his usual abuse, as though the world hasn’t changed since he was last here. Also the same boring tactics used last time – just write LMAO and people start to write…[Read more]

if you can’t be bothered to read beyond the first sentence, then you’ll never know why I can’t be bothered to answer your strange question.

Nem and Drac show themselves to be clever gals. Which one is right? I don’t know Why do I not know?
How can I put this?
First, I answered using the camels because the title of the thread addresses me as the EU reincarnation of mister q, so I thought I would imagine what mister q was saying.
Secondly (you can tell I’ve read the Longman…[Read more]

To quote the immortal mister q, how many camels does it take to eat three beer mats?

many a true word, Paige….
I think part the problem is that an extremely complicated web of trading relationships, with customs and standards attached, was put to a referendum for people to decide. people just can’t be bothered to go through all the economics;, and most feel pretty intimidated by it.
No wonder, both sides tried to make it…[Read more]

Well, when you’re short you’d be surprised what you’re ready to eat..in Paris during the siege more than 100 years ago, people caught cats for food, and even broke into the zoo to kill two elephants. In the US during the 1930s Depression, I read some gut-wrenching stories.
But as I said, they will be seen to be paranoid idiots – I hope.

sorry, what you on about? I’ve not talked about stockpiling before. I don’t agree with it, and I’m not yet seriously contemplating it.
I know of people, I don’t know them personally. Diana Coyle is the only one who admits it, and if you ask her how to stockpile bangers and mash she’d look at you for about the space of a couple of seconds before…[Read more]

personally, I don’t know anyone who is stockpiling. If I did, I would ask them not to – it’s immoral.
Tinned food lasts quite along time, though. At least two websites have developed, and if you know people who aren’t worried about the prospect of shortages, then perhaps they need to think about just what no-deal means a little more.
Extra l…[Read more]

Jane,
as a matter of interest, why would you think that with a Boris Johnson or a Rees Mogg in charge of negotiations – presumably taking a highly confrontational approach – we would be in any better situation.
Of course you could say that we hadn’t even tried.
But if we had, then we could well be saying now why didn’t we try a more…[Read more]

Strange question to ask here, milky.
I’m not intending to stockpile any food, as I already said on another thread, but you wouldn’t believe what foods some people are stockpiling.
Mind you, as Brexit Day nears, if the no-deal option is still on the table, I’d be worried about not stockpiling food in case everyone else is about to stockpile, if…[Read more]

Jane,
I don’t think May is a Remainer. She was very quiet during the referendum campaign, and has always been most enthusiastic about cutting immigration – the Windrush scandal is down to her tenure, not Amber Rudd’s.
She has been passionate about pushing Brexit through, and seems to see it as her only chance of going down in the history books…[Read more]

Linda, I wasn’t referring to you when I said I’d had enough of this rubbish.
But I did answer you at length.
As Jamie says in a good post, you’re very interested in politics yourself.
I’m also passionately interested in poetry.
And I am not going to try to drive anyone out of the boards by isolating them. I wouldn’t do it to Jamie when it…[Read more]

Jane,
Thank you. It was quite refreshing to see someone make a reasonable point in a polite manner, without prefacing it with horrible insults.
You’re absolutely right.
And if we don’t leave, then it would be seen as a betrayal of democracy, as brexiteers such as yourself argue. I don’t agree with you about Remain, as is obvious, but I think…[Read more]

It’s starting to end in tears.
The defeat of the government tonight was stunning. No government has had such a huge majority against it.
Clarity now at last begins to emerge.
Unless the EU makes major concessions, which they won’t, then the clock is still ticking to Brexit Day and we’ll be leaving without a deal.
Except…

I think you’re letting your hatred of her get in the way. I don’t see any way she can hurt me as there’s no contact between us.
I’ve said before that I want nothing to do with your argument against her, except to criticise the cruelty of her attacks on you. She has claimed that I have no idea of what led to her attacks, and she’s right. I don’t.…[Read more]
