Of course when Scep brands someone as right wing he is trying to label them fascists and racists . There is a vast difference between identities, cultures, religions and civilizations TO particular sets of political arrangements and institutions ! I think he’s become brainwashed by his flag waving pro EU buddies having a day out in London ! And this attitude is exactly why the EU has made such a balls up of things. It’s that attitude which turns people anti EU !!
I’d recommend a book by Roger Bootle, ” MAKING A SUCCESS OF BREXIT AND REFORMING THE EU”. Anyway, it’s not a hard read, it speaks our language, no baffling gobbledegook or lecturing and very insightful. I think you’d like it.
Interesting choice, M.
Bootle is one of the right-wing market economists looked to by Jacob Rees-Mogg, and is very keen on a no-deal solution.
Most people think no-deal would be a real problem, causing misery for large numbers of people, but hey, no pain, no gain .
So why do you think Bootle’s prescription for Britain being successful post-Brexit is a good one?
Lol you bandy about the words right wing like they are swear words, anyone right of Corbyn is right wing. Bootle is a very succcessful and highly acclaimed free trade economist, very well informed on all key issues and very aware of the consequences of the EUs future, one way or the other.
There you go again with ‘ most people’ like ‘ I once new a man who said ….’
Anyway my post was to Jamie, and I may or may not answer your question depending on whether there are more important things to see to
Jamie, I know you like learning stuff and reading up on things, if your like me, not an expert on the EU,( well I don’t think anyone here is, they just think they are) I’d recommend a book by Roger Bootle, ” MAKING A SUCCESS OF BREXIT AND REFORMING THE EU”. Roger Bootle has written several books on this subject with excellent reviews, he’s an economist who predicted the housing crisis in the USA which led to the credit crunch, apparently he predicted back in the 90’s that the pound would be forced out of the European Exchange rate mechanism and this would be beneficial to the economy, all came true. Anyway, it’s not a hard read, it speaks our language, no baffling gobbledegook or lecturing and very insightful. I think you’d like it.
Linda said you made her feel bad about herself and low, maybe not insulted per se, but isn’t that bad enough ? Linda may also have excused you, she’s a nice person, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen though
Why are we not surprised that the EU have bullied us into a no win position ? After all they have form for it ?
Any country that has voted no has been forced to have a 2nd referendum, despite The EU proclaiming Democracy would be paramount and results would stand , they promise all kinds of opt-outs and basically sell a lie , get the result they want in the 2nd referendum then conveniently renege on any promises or force through new legislation or a new treaty which makes all other deals , promises or treaty’s null and void.
When France voted NO to the ”Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe” with 55% followed by the Netherlands with a resounding 61% NO majority , referendums were swiftly cancelled in Poland, Portugal, Ireland, The UK and Denmark . The EU promised AGAIN to respect the results… However then The Lisbon Treaty replaced the Constitution for Europe Treaty, practically Identical in every way , this was pushed through French and Dutch parliaments WITHOUT a referendum !! Sneaky eh, so much for respecting the democratic results !! And people don’t think they are Bullies ? pfffft yea right …..
The country had a referendum. There was hard and dirty fight on both sides. A referendum should count for SOMETHING !! it was a BIG DEAL ! The turn out was massive, people got off their arses and voted ! ( apart from the young who never think things can ‘touch’ them ) They voted for what they wanted, be it remain or leave. It was a one off ! A democratic vote by the people of the UK. The result was to leave. The people of the UK who voted leave didn’t do so because they are too stupid to understand the implications. I am sure, like me, they gave it hard consideration. We as a country voted leave. Leave means Leave. The majority of the people of this country have been sold out, their voice didn’t and will not count. I’m pretty sure remainers will sit smugly considering this deal a victory, but when the EU does eventually come crashing down which is inevitable as all Dictatorships never seem to end well, I fear we will all think ‘we should have got out while we had the chance’, if we had, by now ( 5-10 years down the line ) we’d have been sitting pretty watching from afar as it all goes tits up in Brussels.
Sceptcal was / is right about one thing, this ‘deal’ is not what people voting OUT voted for… it makes the whole thing a complete waste of time, if one were of a cynical mindset one may almost think this was Mays aim all along , to tie us to the EU indefinitely !! I never thought I’d say this but I’m starting to think NO DEAL would be better ! One thing I do know is I doubt I’ll ever vote for anything again, it’s a complete waste of time !!
” I will support you in any way i can but I can never be your friend’‘
OOO how mysterious, dramatic and once again about you…
Supporting people and understanding why they sometimes act the way they do is being a friend. Making statements like that makes everything more about you than them. Friends take the shit with the good stuff, so why even bother saying you will support them. Why not just say I think you are decent and a good person despite any issues you may carry, why make it about you and why you cant be a friend ? Why even mention all that ? And lets be real here, whatever it is its only ‘your take ‘ on it. Really odd.
And how typical of you to read the worst into it and refuse see any other meaning.
Jamie seems to have understood what I was talking about. She made a very personal complain about my attitude, and I answered her in a very personal way. What right do you have to butt in with your sarcastic comments?
If she’s not sure about my response, then I’ll pm her – at her request. If she thinks I’m ebing insulting, then she should say (as Linda has said) and I’ll try to explain.
But it’s pretty insulting for you to step in and reinterpret what I’m saying in order to create bad feelings. Jamie can speak for herself, don’t you think??
I will comment on any post I wish to, funny how you manage to insult both Jamie and Linda and still make it their fault
“ oh you’re far too touchy….”
“even I make mistakes …”
Not condescending at all…… lol
I KNOW Jamie can speak for herself, pity you don’t treat both her and Linda as equals, without the patronising oil slick !!
